To celebrate the achievements of the students
On 28th of June, 2018 the Year 7 team conducted the Term 3 Celebration Assembly where all the hard work of the students and staff was felicitated and appreciated. The year 7 team celebrated the success of students for excellence in academics, behaviour and extra/ co-curricular activities. Certificates were awarded for the Star of the Month, Principal’s Commendation, 100% attendance, Bake Sale and other activities that they had participated in. Certificates were also given to teachers who have put in continuous effort and encouraged their students throughout the term.

To foster good relationships between home and school On 25th of April Key Stage 3 (Year 7G3) celebrated Relationship of learning at school and home in the auditorium. The assembly explained the difference between home schooling and regular schooling. Furthermore a role play was presented with a very strong message on how to build a high quality teaching and learning environment that will impact the student’s happiness, confidence and enthusiasm to become a successful individual. To foster good relationships between the home and school On 18th of April 7G2 presented an assembly where they focused on the School Climate, Respect and Student Engagement. Role play explained the importance of respect the people to themselves and to people around you. The class presented a Speech and a Poem explaining the modern day School Climate from a student’s perspective. The assembly presented a message to the students where they clearly explained how a healthy school climate can enhance learning of a student. To develop an understanding of one’s role in spreading happiness through the celebration of Diversity in UAE.
Diversity in UAE was celebrated by 7G1 on 11th April, 2018 in the GCA area. The main focus of the assembly was to portray how UAE acknowledges every individual, irrespective of religion, race and nationality. The concept of diversity was introduced at the beginning, which was later on portrayed through mimes based on how, over the years, UAE has accepted and promoted different nationalities, religions, festivals and food from around the world. The class also made colourful posters and asked insightful questions to further reiterate the notion. Encourage young minds to contribute to the happiness of UAE and help the country to be one of the top 10 world countries for happiness.
Keeping in line with the Happiness week in UAE and the International Day of Happiness, Winchester was keen in promoting the Happiness agenda. On Tuesday 20th March 2018, the spirit of joy and happiness were at a brim in every nook and corner of the school. They were celebration assemblies to acknowledge the hard work of students and staff. Students wrote and exchanged happiness messages to their friends, teachers and family. Happy faces travelled across the secondary to fetch the real essence of happiness, students expressed their happiness through videos, music and dance. To reflect on the understanding that bullying is a serious problem that needs to be resolved immediately.
On Tuesday 27th February 2018, the ‘I SPEAK YOU’ campaign was introduced to The Winchester School’s Year 7 and 8 students. The campaign educated the students about the effect of bullying on students and ways to deal with it. The students of Middlesex University had displayed a video featuring the popular Bollywood superstar, Hrithik Roshan, in the video, he spoke about how the inhabitants of this world should come together united as one and form peace. As the assembly proceeded, students of the university handed out post-it to the students of Winchester and asked them to write about their inspirational superhero. The students were asked questions about bullying and how it affects the mental health of a child. The assembly was very well received by our students. - To help student understand the importance of charity and render support to the less privileged.
-To be able to raise money to support the Dubai Cares On 22nd of March 2018, the Year 7’s had their second Bab Al Taleem of the year, students eagerly volunteered and enthusiastically participated in the charitable event. Students sold books and games, they were very also eager to bake and sell cakes, cookies, pastries, cupcakes and muffins They were even keen to raise fund when they learnt that the funds raised would be donated to Dubai cares. To ensure health and safety our student volunteers displayed posters specifying the ingredients. Bakers were encouraged not to use milk and egg in food items and nuts were a complete ban. Furthermore, students selling food items were instructed to wear gloves and handed out tissues and plates while serving. The Bab Al Taleem was a pleasurable event filled with fun, excitement and great learning. All in all the Bab Al Taleem was a pleasurable event filled with fun and excitement. Students are anxiously waiting for the next Bab Al Taleem! To appreciate the various achievements of students and staff in Term 2.
On the 21st March 2018, the Key Stage 3 organized the Celebration Assembly Term 2 where all the hard work of the students and staff was felicitated and appreciated. Year 7 team celebrated the success of students for excellence in academics, behaviour, attendance, etc. Certificates were given out to students to appreciate their consistent hard work and effort throughout the term 2 ie. Principal's Letter of Commendation, Star of the Month, 100 % attendance, KENKEN, Spelling Bee and WINMUN, Year of Zayed Painting and Poetry writing competition etc. Certificates were also given to teachers who have put in continuous effort and encouraged their students throughout the term. To motivate our students to focus on changing mindsets, developing novel ways of thinking, and to prepare them for a future of accelerating change.
On Monday 12th March 2018, Raya one of our ex-student represented Awecademy, it is a global online educational platform that allows students to learn, connect, and solve humanity’s grand challenges. Raya emphasized the mission of the Awecademy is to bring a sense of awe and wonder into education; encourage learners to take a cosmic perspective, have a species-wide impact, and bring about civilization-level change. She also motivated our students to focus on changing mindsets, developing novel ways of thinking, and to prepare students for a future of accelerating change, exponential technologies and innovations. On Thursday 1st Feb 2018, Key Stage 3 conducted a collage competition to commemorate the Year of Zayed . The objective of the event is to encourage our students to reflect on the unique standing that our great leader His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan held in the hearts of the people of UAE and encourage our students to appreciate hardwork and vision of the great leader in the form of collage.
